Anne R. Harris

Senior Advisor

Anne supports JTI’s Ethics and Compliance practice. Previously, from 2004 to 2013, she served as Staff Vice President and Chief Ethics Officer for General Dynamics Corporation. While at General Dynamics, she:
• led the evolution of General Dynamics’ values-based Ethics Program into a leading example of industry best practices;
• led the globalization of the Ethics Program, ensuring its relevance to 95,000 employees in over 45 countries and tailoring Program elements, such as the Code of Conduct and Helpline, to meet international compliance requirements;
• provided direction, guidance, and oversight to 13 business units regarding ethics and compliance risk assessments, regulatory developments, training, communications, and investigations and case management; and
• supported the integration of domestic and international acquisitions and assessed subsidiaries’ program effectiveness.
Before her appointment as Chief Ethics Officer, Anne served for six years as Vice President – Human Resources for General Dynamics C4 Systems, which General Dynamics acquired from GTE Corporation. Anne had worked for GTE for 12 years in a number of Human Resources roles. In these capacities, Anne had responsibilities in such areas as policy development, internal investigations, employee relations, employment law, training, and communications, which have proven valuable to her ethics and compliance work.
Anne is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional and a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, the Ethics & Compliance Officer Association, the Center for Business Ethics at Bentley University, the Capital Area Business Ethics Network, the Society for Human Resources Management, and the National Association of Corporate Directors. From 2004 to 2013, she participated in the Working Group of the Defense Industry Initiative on Business Ethics & Conduct, the Steering Committee of the International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct, and the Ethics Resource Center Fellows Program.
Anne earned an AB with Honors from Smith College and an MBA from INSEAD. Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees and chairs the Governance Committee of the Board of the Cathedral Choral Society, the resident symphonic chorus affiliated with Washington National Cathedral.
